Here’s a little secret. Diets don’t work. Period. How many of us go on a diet and have some success, but find it short lived? How many of us gain back all that we lost AND then more? My hand is up. Is yours? The majority of people who diet, fail in the long run. That is a pretty poor track record. Hence the “nothing works syndrome”.
The secret to powering over that nothing works mentality is to uncover something that does work. We have to look for something that we can do for the rest of our lives to reach success. We must find those small tweaks in our lifestyle that we can sustain forever-not just the day(s) we diet. Sure we can lose weight if we drastically reduce our calories today, but what happens tomorrow when we add back all those bad habits we so proudly resisted for the short run while we were on a diet? You and I both know the answer.
